Love White Rajah? Meet Its Bold, Dark Sibling.
Now Pouring
If you are an Ohio craft beer drinker, you probably know White Rajah. It’s the gold standard for West Coast IPAs in our region – bright, tropical, and aggressively hoppy. But what happens when the lights go out?
Enter Black Rajah.
If you haven’t tried this beer yet because you think “dark beer means heavy stout,” you are missing out on one of The Brew Kettle’s most unique creations. Here is why every White Rajah loyalist needs to grab a 6-pack of the Black:

- It’s the Same DNA, Just darker. Black Rajah isn’t a stout; it is a Black IPA (sometimes called a Cascadian Dark Ale). It uses the same aggressive hopping techniques as White Rajah, featuring heavily on Citra hops. You still get those massive waves of tropical fruit, pineapple, and citrus zest that you love in the White version.
- Complexity is King. While White Rajah is clean and crisp, Black Rajah adds a layer of mystery. The dark roasted malts introduce subtle notes of dark chocolate, mild coffee, and toasted biscuit. It doesn’t weigh the beer down; it just gives the hops a richer stage to dance on.
- The Perfect Food Partner. White Rajah is great with wings, but Black Rajah is a culinary Swiss Army knife. The roastiness latches onto BBQ char and smash burgers, while the high hopping rate cuts right through spicy Asian dishes.
- It’s Seasonal (and Special). Unlike the year-round availability of White Rajah, Black Rajah is a seasonal treat. Drinking it feels like an occasion. It’s the perfect transition beer—refreshing enough for a hot kitchen, but complex enough for a cold winter night.

The Verdict: If White Rajah is your daily driver, Black Rajah is your weekend sports car. It’s bold, it’s hoppy, and it proves that you don’t have to be light to be bright.
