The BREW Kettle CBW BBL Aged Night 2012
The BREW Kettle BBL Aged Jackhammer – BBL Aged Barley Wine. Ruddy amber color with a light beige head. Toasted malt and caramel in the nose with a bit of dark fruit accentuate the rich complexity of the bourbon. Luscious body with a soft oak character. Sweet brown sugar and malt flavors along with a moderate level of hops, plus a bit of alcohol burn provide the perfect compliment to the BBL aging. Finishes chewy and sweet with a nicely lingering aftertaste.
12 ABV $5 12oz
Birraficio Barley Toccadibo (Zymatore Project***) – Belgian Style Strong Pale Ale made in Italy. Light golden color with a fresh, spicy, and floral nose. Pleasant mouthfeel with apricot and pepper notes. Finishes dry and warming. This has been aged in Bella Vineyards (Healdsburg, CA) late harvest Zinfandel BBLs for 6 months. This beer is un-carbonated and reminiscent of a Belgian lambic with tannins and strong vinous notes.
8.4 ABV $10 1/4ltr
Birra del Borgo 25 Dodici (Zymatore Project***) – A Belgian Winter Warmer Style made in Italy. Fairly light bodied for the style but has some really nice caramel and earthy notes. It finishes dry with light spice and subtle herbal notes. This particular version has been matured in American Oak BBLs which had previously contained American Bourbon and most recently White Owl Whiskey from Belgian Owl Distillery (Bel.).
9.5 ABV $10 1/4ltr
Great Divide Oak Aged Chocolate Yeti – Oak Aged Imperial Chocolate Stout. Thick pitch black pour with a mocha colored head. Chocolate malts are the most noticeable initially. Some oak on the noise as well, along with a roasted malt aroma. Chocolate comes through with a smooth oak backbone. Slight alcohol taste towards the finish along with some roasted malt. Chocolate, while not dominate, is the centerpiece of this oak aged variety.
9.5 ABV $6 12oz
Great Divide Rumble Oak Aged IPA -- Brewed with heavy handed additions of Pacific Northwest hops, this beer is gently aged on French and American oak resulting in a wonderful balance of bitterness, caramel sweetness, vanilla, and undertones of pine and citrus.
7.1 ABV $5 Pint
Harvistoun’s Scheihallion (Zymatore Project***) - A European Pale Lager. Bright golden amber in color, the base beer is a typical Euro Lager. Light body, floral hops, slightly sweet with a gentle hoppiness on the finish. This has been aged in Ransom Spirits (Ore.) Whisky American White Oak BBLS.
4.8 ABV $7.75 Pint
Innus and Gunn Original – BBL aged Scottish Ale with a clear deep golden amber with Oak and vanilla aromas. A nice pale malt bill is greatly enhanced by oak, vanilla, and a nice subtle sweetness. Very smooth and creamy finish.
6.6 ABV $6.5 Pint
Innus and Gunn Rum Cask BBL Aged Ale – Rum BBL aged Wee Heavy Scottish Ale. Dark ruddy brown color glimmers with its clarity. Soft but pungent aroma; oaky, musty, hint of spice and alcohol, cigar, brown bread and ripe baked apples. Oakiness has some pull on the palate but lets the beer be a beer. Brown sugar and rum notes are mild, but are certainly complex layers. Maltiness is slightly dry and bready; modest hopping here with a warming alcohol finish.
7.7 ABV $5.25 12oz
Rogue John John BBL Aged Dead Guy – BBL aged Maibock. Pours a light amber color with an aroma that is full of bourbon with sweet malt and floral hops in the nose. Taste is sweet, grainy, and chewy with malt complimenting the bourbon. Mouthfeel is creamy and full of lingering soft malt and bourbon. Finishes nice and light.
6.4 ABV $6.25 Pint
New Holland Dragon’s Milk – Pours a black coffee color with a nice firm tan head with no lacing. Medium low level of carbonation. Aroma is laden with vanilla, malt, cream and coffee. Taste is heavenly with sweet creamy roasted malts blending with coffee overtones and woody scotch-like notes. Mouthfeel is wonderfully creamy, yet not sticky or too thick. Carbonation remains present and gives a slight zing to the finish. Exceptional drinkability and a world class beer.
10 ABV $6.75 12oz
Thirsty Dog Wee Heavy – BBL Aged Wee Heavy Scottish Ale. Pours deep, dark and clear with a mahogany sparkle when held up to light. The aromatic high-points are singed caramel, vanilla, a splash of bourbon and a hint of acidity. Full-bodied and silky with soft carbonation. The flavor leans sweet, but is well-balanced overall. Nice caramel, vanilla and bourbon components. Lengthy, bittersweet finish.
10 ABV $6.50 12oz
Thirsty Dog BBL Aged Siberian Night – BBL Aged Russian Imperial Stout. Pours thick and black as oil with a tan head. Strong aroma with hints of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, mocha, and a strong bourbon presence. Light Carbonation. Huge bourbon up front with big notes of burnt malts. French vanilla and a touch of chocolate round out the back and add a bit of sweetness.
11 ABV $9 12oz
